Halloween 2018

November 2, 2018

Happy Friday and happy November! Halloween has come and gone and it was the best one yet! The boys are at such a fun age and Kai is finally old enough to really get into it. They have been talking about Halloween for months now and carrying their pumpkin buckets around the house pretending to Trick or Treat all week. Every year we do family themed costumes, and we had been planning on the boys going as a fish and bobber and J.D. and I going as fishermen. Our plans all changed when Kona watched Hotel Transylvania and decided he wanted to be a vampire. Kai quickly got on board (he’ll seriously agree to anything Kona want’s to do) and wanted to be a ghost. I figured they would change their minds a million more times, but they were set. To round out our spooky family theme, I decided to go as a witch and I found J.D. the best Skelton costume at Target.

The week leading up to Halloween was full of parties, Boo at the Zoo, making festive treats and Halloween crafts and carving pumpkins. We crammed as much festive fun into this last week and I’m not mad about it at all. Making the holidays super festive for my kids is something I love and look forward to for months. Having kids makes everything so much better and holidays are no exception!!

Kona had preschool on Halloween morning and they all got to dress up and Trick or Treat at a retirement home across the street. He had the best time and got to see Great Grandma at the same time. It was so fun to hear him talk about seeing her and what everyone was dressed up as. After school we had mummy hotdogs and the boys immediately went through Kona’s candy bucket. It’s my Dad’s birthday is on Halloween, so later that evening we went to his house for a birthday dinner, cake and Trick or Treating. The boys couldn’t wait to go out and didn’t waste any time running out of the house when we told them it was time. After Trick or Treating around my Dad’s neighborhood we drove to another one that was completely decked out and Kona was in love. Kai not so much, but Kona couldn’t’ get enough. I’m hoping next year will be a different story and Kai will enjoy all the spookiness. When we got home we stopped by our neighbors houses and stayed up way past our bed time having way too much fun. The boys were up super early the next morning requesting candy for breakfast and looking through their buckets once again. Oh to be a kid again!

The older the boys get the more and more I loooove Halloween. I’m super sad that it’s over, but I have to admit I was a little excited to get my house back to normal. I took down the spider webs and bats that were on every surface in preparation for a more simple and thankful touch.

I hope everyone had the best Halloween! I would love to hear about your costumes in the comments! XOXO
