Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine’s day celebrating the ones your love!
I can’t believe I’m just now getting around to publishing my January book review. January seemed to drag on and February is flying by. I read some really great books last month and can’t wait to share them with you! I have always loved to read, but never made it much of a priority until last year. In the past I would read a few books and then I wouldn’t read for months and months. Last year things started to change when I found Mix and Match Mama’s book reviews. She reads several books a month and has been writing book reviews for years, so when I found her book reviews there were so many books I wanted to read. Having such a huge stack of book made me so excited. Being excited about reading made me make it a priority. Every morning I wake up before the boys, spend time with Jesus, check emails and messages, make coffee, and sit down with a book. I can honestly say that readying every morning and getting my mind-set for the day makes me a more patient mom. I’m not oozing patience by any stretch of them imagination, but it definitely helps!
My hope is that this post and the ones moving forward (I’m going to do a book review every month) make you excited to read. I read 5 books this month and I loved all but one! Grab some coffee and get ready…It’s time for my January book review!
Oh my word I absolutely loved this book! This book was the second book I read by Kristin Hannah and I couldn’t get enough. Once I started reading it I couldn’t put it down. The book alternates between the past and present, as two sisters try to figure out the past of their mother’s life. This book made me feel all the feels. I loved the characters, writing and history that the book brought. I found myself rooting for the sisters to untangle their mother’s story and figure out where they came from. If you read one book next month I highly suggest this one!
I was so disappointed by this book. This was also the second book I read by Celeste Ng. The first book I read by her was Everything I Never Told You and I loved it, but this book was a complete flop for me. After I got done reading the book I went straight to Amazon to look at the reviews again. I couldn’t believe that 58% of reviews gave this book a 5 star review. What really got me was the ending. The book was easy to read, I enjoyed most of the characters, but the ending was a complete let down. If the book would have been a killer one with a disappointing ending I wouldn’t have minded as much. Have you read this book? Did you like it? Maybe I’m just missing something. I really wanted to love this book and couldn’t wait to read it, but it just wasn’t my cup of tea.
This book is beautifully written and is hard to read at times. It is a story about a family being ripped apart by Soviet officers and taken to Siberian work camps. The family ends up in separate prison camps and fights to stay alive and find each other again. This book heart-wrenching and beautifully written at the same time. If you like heavier book and a little piece of history I recommend this book.
This book was really fun to read and not as deep and sad as I was expecting. Dare I say that I felt it was a little chic lit at times with silly and implausible situations. The characters are all lovable and the author is very funny. The story moves along nicely and I was never bored or waiting for the next thing to happen. While the story does have a sad underlying theme, I never felt super sad reading this book. I cheered for the characters and their lives. If you don’t mind a book that is a little more chic lit than serious, I would highly recommend this book!
The Tattooist of Auschwitz is an amazing book about love hope and survival. This book is based on a true story and conversations that were conducted with Holocaust survivor and Auschwitz tattooer. This book combines history and a love story all in one. It shows the true strength of humans and how love and hope can get you through the darkest days of your life. I recommend that everyone reads this book. It is beautify written and will pull at all your heart strings. It’s a story I won’t soon forget and has stayed with me since I read it.
I hope you guys enjoyed my book review and find one or two books that you can’t wait to read! I have several books in my Amazon cart, but would love to hear your recommendations!
I hope everyone has a wonderful book loving day!
